Flower Pressing Service

What is it?

Flower pressing has grown into a unique art, allowing people to capture moments and memories, just like photos do. Traditionally, bridal flowers are pressed and framed, but in some cases, like our photos, other resin items can be made too, such as trays, coasters and earrings.

Working with flowers was not where we expected Resinate with Love to go, but after a special request from a friend to press her wedding flowers, a LOT of research, and many mistakes, we’ve grown to love the process and (thankfully) find success! Then another work friend asked to press her bridesmaids flowers and it made an incredible surprise for her friend (the bride) who definitely was not expecting it. From there we decided we’ll add this service to our business as it pairs well with our jewellery (get it? I love puns!). My very favourite part is seeing their big smile when the commissioned piece is finally in their hands! It really does make me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Our Process

Flower pressing can be quite an arduous process, and for brides in particular, you don’t want to be spending your precious honeymoon time stressing over getting this right. So instead, hire us to help! All it takes is a quick form and we’ll get in touch to discuss what you’d like the final product to look like and provide you with a quote. Often booking in a few months prior is crucial to ensure there are availabilities. After the flowers are with us, you don’t need to even think about it for 2-3 months! Once they are fully dried and pressed, we will be in touch and openly communicate to ensure that the final arrangement is just as you’d like it. Other than replying to our messages to give feedback and check out photos of arrangements options, you won’t even need to get your hands dirty. When it’s all done and ready to collect or deliver, we’ll be in touch to organise it.

Ta da! Easy as pie!

Pro tips for you:

  • Wrap the bottom of the flower stems in wet paper towel and refrigerate your bouquet overnight.

  • Organise to have someone whom you can rely on from your bridal party to deliver the flowers to us the day after the event. This will give you the best chance of preserving the flowers while they are super fresh. Please note that we are based in Brisbane, but if you are not and would like our service, posting the flowers express to us is an option - just get in touch!

  • Always provide more (ideally, all) of the flowers for pressing rather than just a few. Sometimes petals can be more likely to tear or are a lot more fragile. Some flowers require each petal to be pressed separately and then reconstructed. It’s better for us to have extra to work with to make them look like they originally were as particular colours can become semi-translucent and need layering.

  • Gum leaves and smaller native flowers (see photo) can also press quite well but take a little longer to really flatten. Baby’s breath press really well and can be dyed if you’d like for earrings.

  • Be mindful of white roses as they often discolour when drying, please consider a variety of colours if you’re intending to have the flowers pressed from your big day and REALLY hate the colour yellow!

Our Prices

Prices will vary depending on the piece requested, the flowers, and the size. However, a general idea of the prices appear below:

  • Studs using pressed flowers in a customised design: from $60.00 per pair

  • Dangle earrings using pressed flowers in a customised design: from $90.00 per pair

  • Brooch or hairclip using pressed flowers in a customised design: from $70.00

  • A4 8x11 frame (outer edges only - space for 6x4 or 5x7 photo): $220.00

  • A4 8x11 frame: $270.00

  • A3 frame (outer edges only - space for photo or wedding vows): $320.00

  • A3 frame: $370.00+

  • A2 or equivalent: $420+

Please note: I would also like to take the opportunity to clarify (as I made the assumption at first too) - flower pressing is A LOT more work than just putting the flowers between paper and leaving them for 8 weeks. They are checked, adjusted, and paper is changed daily for 2-3 months to prevent rotting and mould. It’s a minimum of 2 hours of work per day after the initial pressing (usually 3+ hrs), hence the labour costs. Keeping that in mind, we have tried to keep our prices quite competitive as we want to make this accessible for everyone. I got you, I’m on a budget too! I’m all about open communication so don’t be afraid to get in touch for a quote, and we’ll see how we can best help bring your ideas to life, no matter the scale!
